To identify ideal or optimal sites, retailers invest significant amount of time, resources and money to research market areas. Retailers see the value in demographics and mapping technologies; however, it is what you do with the data that is important. Many retailers today pay close attention to understanding who their clients are, where they live, shop and work; however, far too many retailers simply use the data the wrong way. GSA Goes Green…

In a collaborative effort with the Office of Management and Budget, the GSA is formulating a comprehensive plan for Strategic Sustainability Performance. This will focus on the reduction of the Government facilities’ impact on using natural resources with a Zero Environmental Footprint goal. Of note is that this effort will likely result in consolidation of GSA data centers; reduced power consumption; and increasing CPU utilization through metering technologies as well as more use of Cloud computing. Apple Blinks While the Androids Keep Coming…

Apple gave in first and is now allowing more open development standards which will finally support Adobe FLASH features to appear on iPads. Geez, stubborn egos finally succumb to business realities. What this means for us is that the iPad will now be able to view Adobe docs and FLASH graphic files. Now if Apple would just support Java, we would be in tech heaven. Except for the cost, of course. iPad Chapter 2…

The iPad has been a resounding hit for Apple, particularly in the educational and music video markets, but also in some specialty areas such as healthcare where the device becomes useful to doctors and nurses to keep patient records with internet access as they make their rounds. And it is particularly fun to read the Wall Street Journal, finally in a readable electronic format apart from my PC. More >
