As Southern California’s job growth came to a grinding halt in 2008, the monthly litany of job losses became the yardstick by which the severity of the recession was measured. As the calendar moved into 2010, the decline in employment finally began to abate. And although the unemployment rate remains relatively high, a number of economic indicators have pointed to the end of the recession, those being a rise in corporate profits, real GDP growth and the creation of jobs in some sectors.
